Experience one of Africa’s true wildlife gems in this 11,700 square-kilometre wildlife reserve. Chobe National Park is Botswana’s first proclaimed national park and also the most biologically diverse, enjoying one of the greatest concentrations of game in all of Africa…and is certainly Africa’s largest concentration of African elephant (in excess of 120, 000 at last count).
The park is noted for its population of lions that prey on juvenile or sub-adult elephants. Common sightings can include the African painted dog (wild dog), blue wildebeest, Cape buffalo, civet, giraffe, hyena, leopard, puku (a rare type of antelope), tsessebe, zebra and much more. The Chobe River, which flows along the Northeast border of the park, is a major watering spot for large breeding herds of elephants, as well as families of giraffe, sable and Cape Buffalo.
Look forward to a delicious ‘Chobe Chow’ BBQ lunch at a riverside picnic spot (with toilets). Our custom-built vehicle is fitted out with catering equipment to produce a mouth- watering lunch of traditional fare cooked in-situ, with tea, coffee, juices, water and selected alcoholic beverages.

What to Pack? Binoculars will always enhance any game-viewing experience en route and will be a real boon for bird lovers, who will be more than thrilled with the many species that come and go in this region. You will of course come with long lenses for greater distance images. Don’t forget extra batteries. Sunscreen and lip balm are more than helpful in these dry conditions and carrying ‘wet wipes’ are ideal for freshening up your face, neck and hands. Sunglasses will soften the glare – especially in the middle of the day. Do bring along small packets of tissues. In cooler months (periodically late May through September) we advise bringing a jacket, jersey or shawl. We offer blankets and ponchos.
