Its always good to hear that the efforts of others are proving to worthwhile.
While reading the Sunday Argus this weekend, we came across this interesting article about conservation of the Gorillas in East Africa.
Being actively involved ourselves, through one of our lodges in Uganda (Nkuringo Safari Lodge), we are extremely
happy to hear things are on track to preserve these awesome creatures.
Below is an excerpt of the article and a link to the full read.
East Africa's endangered mountain gorillas are making a slow but steady comeback due to a decade of conservation efforts to counter the impact of war and poaching, WWF said yesterday.
There are now 340 in Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, which is home to nearly half the world's mountain gorillas, the group said.
That is a 12% growth in a decade, WWF said, indicating a healthy, well-protected population.
"This is great news for the survival of the mountain gorilla," Marc Languy of the group's east Africa programme said in a statement.
