- HEALTH AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid passport is required and visas are required by some nationalities. We recommend clients check with visa authorities well in advance. A yellow fever vaccination is required for travelers over one year traveling from infected areas (the endemic zones as listed by the World Health Organization). There is currently no malaria risk in Mauritius
- INSURANCE:
- Please note Flame of Africa strongly recommends you take out a full insurance policy that covers the duration of your stay. Please contact your local insurance agency.
- CLOTHING AND CLIMATE:
- Beach and casual wear is suitable all year round. Sun protection and hats are strongly advisable. In the winter months (July – September) the evenings can be cool.
In the central part of the island, 600m above sea level, the average maximum day temperature varies from about 20-026C. Along the coastal areas, temperatures are generally 3 – 5C higher. The Western and Northern regions are warmer and relatively drier than the East and the South.
- CURRENCY:
- The unit of currency is the Mauritius Rupee. Banks, hotels, restaurants and tourist shops generally accept credit cards.
- ELECTRIC CURRENT:
- The power supply throughout the island is 220 volts.
